We're still alive

Yes, we're still alive. Actually, I think things are finally settling down a little bit (knock on wood). The sleeping issue has improved quite a bit. He doesn't usually cry anymore, just seems kind of resigned. I now just have to sit with him for 15 to 30 minutes (knock wood again), depending on how pooped out he was. The other day, grandma and grandpa came over with several bags of sand to set up Evan's sandbox. They had a blast playing in it! Then we all had a good meal afterwards. Evan was asleep in under 10 minutes. Evan has this little stuffed puppy (Scout) that plays 10 or 20 minutes of lullaby (or environmental sounds). That's how I sort of judge how long I've stayed with him.

Potty training, on the other hand, is still slow going. I understand that it's a long process, so we're not pushing very hard. Hopefully, once we get him into a preschool, they'll help us get him potty trained. He always seems very interested in other kids. I think he'll enjoy going to preschool.

Evan had his first check up at the pediatrician today. Everything checked out well. He's now 40 inches tall (97 percentile) and 47 lbs (umm… off the chart). He had to get 3 shots. He took the 2 shots in the arm like a champ, even watched the needle go into his arm! He cried just a little with the one in his thigh but recovered pretty quickly. While we were waiting in the exam room, there was crying coming from the next room. Hubby asked Evan, "Is that a didi (little boy)?" Evan said, "Meimei (little girl)," like only little girls cry or something. Our little macho boy! Big boys don't cry… except at bed time. ;o)

We're taking him to a toddler tumbling class tomorrow to see how he likes it. We'd like to help him work on a bit of coordination and balance. Burning off some of that energy wouldn't hurt either.

The other morning, we put on the cute, brand new outfit that Auntie Judy (Thanks JT!) got him, ready to have a great morning at the park. Unfortunately, somebody decided he didn't want to eat his breakfast before going out to "san bu" (take a walk). I gave him the choice of eating then going to the park or staying home then going to the timeout corner if he wanted to keep crying. You see what he chose...

He did finally relent after going to the corner. Drank his milk and stuff, then we finally got to go to the park.

Sandbox! I'm told every boy needs one. I wouldn't know.

He's usually a shower boy, but we gave him a special treat tonight. He got to play in the tub for 45 minutes, thereby delaying bed time. Double treat!!
