Sadly, we said good-bye to their Montessori school. Evan and Emma started public school as first-grader and kindergartener. Before the beginning of school, we brought them to the campus so they could get familiarized with the surroundings. They rode their bikes and played on the playground. We even had a little impromptu picnic.
First day of school was a bit of a madhouse.
Happy now, but as time got closer she cried when mama and baba had to go.
Such a big boy, going to his classroom with his new classmates.
Still in honeymoon period. School is not all fun and games.
To celebrate the good first 3 days of new school, we got yummy treats from BR.
Through many months of going back and forth with the adoption court regarding this paper and that form, we FINALLY completed Emma’s readoption. Her name is officially changed. So she’ll be getting all the documents (certificate of foreign birth, certificate of citizenship) in her new name. Good thing, because no one can pronounce her Chinese name the way it was spelled. Our court date happened to be their first day at their new school. We ended up having to pull them out of school midday. When we went to pick them up, they were both liking the new school very much (first day = all fun and no work… of course they liked it). Evan said his first day was awesome. They were both so proud that they got to walk the 20 or so yard from their classroom to the office all by themselves!! I must say, watching them walk up with their backpacks, they looked so big.
The judge was so kind to let the kids each pick out a stuffed animal. Emma picked a white puppy and Evan chose a tiger.
