I haven't written anything in a while. I'm just not quite sure what to write about. The last couple of weeks have been a little challenging. Some days were better than others. Hubby has gone back to work full time. Evan started going to preschool all day for 3 days this week. He still cries when I drop him off in the morning but stops pretty soon after I leave. Do kids just put up a show for you or something?
One evening over a week ago, we caught him "counting" in English all by himself. He would go, "two, twee, fo, fi, sie, ma (we don't have seven down yet), ei," then he would run in a big circle from the living room to the kitchen. laughing and giggling. He did this for about 10 times. Hubby and I looked at each other, not quite believing it. Is something actually sinking in? Yup, he does like counting his numbers. Not quite perfectly yet, but we're trying. He also loves the wheels on the bus song with all the hand gestures and such. He would make hubby play it over and over and over and never gets tired of it. And everybody has to make the hand gestures with him.
Potty training continues, with a lot of hits and misses. Ok, mostly misses with #2s. He can't seem to tell us when he needs to go, for #1 or #2. And he's rather selective to which toilet he goes in. *sigh* Am I going to be washing soiled underwear for the rest of my life? Couple of weeks ago, he actually successfully went #2 two mornings in a row! We were so happy, but it didn't last. Now we watch him like a hawk after each meal. Every time he's standing a bit too still, we ask him, "are you going en-en?" His standard answer is "mei yo" (ie, no). Of course, we don't believe him and pull the back of his pants back to see if there's anything going on. We've caught him like this a couple of times like this "mid-poop." Then of course, by the time we get him to the toilet no more comes out. Argh!!! We have a collection of prizes if he goes #2 in the toilet. Sometimes he would clap and cheer like he did something, but there's nothing in the toilet. Hey, mama and baba didn't just fall off the turnip truck. We're not fooled that easily.
Evan has been congested the last couple of weeks. We just found out today that he has an ear infection. We suspect it might be from the couple swim classes we took him to. He's been extra uncooperative lately. I suppose not feeling well is a reason. I'm not one for swearing. But I've been swearing a lot in my head lately, especially when he does the elongated "Mahmaaa--------aaaaaa--------aah" several hundred times a day. Deep breaths aren't working so well for me anymore.
He loves to see himself in the mirror, especially when he has something new on. He loves his new sunglasses.
First piƱata, couldn't believe he actually got permission to hit something. Was Evan hyperventilating? ;o)
Thanks, Al, for having us!
Hey, keep that cake coming.
New PJs. Had to rush to the mirror to check himself out and make mama get out the camera to take a few shots.

Hang in there. It gets easier-I promise!
ReplyDeleteParenthood really sounds tiring!
ReplyDeleteAre you still planning on coming back to work? (will that make your life harder or easier?)
