We've run into a little bit of a dilemma with the adoption lately. Our immigration (CIS) approval expires on 4/20. Our agency has talked to the orphanage who thought we should be able to travel in March, but there are no guarantees. So to be on the safe side, we might want to start working on the renewal, which involves a little stack of paperwork. The biggest headache is probably the medical exams, getting scheduled, getting blood test, then going back again. Then everything's gotta be notarized, 3 copies for each of us. Ugh! We would both need to be fingerprinted again. UGH!! The renewal would probably cost us about $1000, but it would be worth it for the peace of mind. Paul's holding out that we would travel before 4/20. But just in case, I've started to fill out paperwork and stuff. We'll wait another week or two. If we don't hear anything then, we'll have to go full blast to get everything done PRONTO! CIS moves very slowly, so we might be cutting it very close if don't start the renewal soon. I'm on pins and needles, man.
On another note, my second set of fingerprints actually cleared!! Didn't need that clearance letter that I went ahead and got after all. It's good to have a plan B then have plan A work out. Thanks CIS for taking pity on my little bald fingers.
Update:
We did end up filing for the renewal. I just couldn't stand the suspense anymore. And we didn't want a piece of paper to keep us from bringing Evan home. Although we have our travel date now and the renewal isn't really necessary after all, it was good to get it done for my peace of mind.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you get your travel dates soon. I have another friend who got her final decree a week ago and no travel dates! But then again everything shuts down right now for CNY. I know how hard it is when things start expiring and you don't know whether to renew or not. Our Homestudy expired before we traveled and I was worried but our agency said we would be fine - and we were. I would wait a couple of days after the CNY shut down is over to see if they issue that final decree. We had final decree 5 weeks after court date. Congratulations on your first decree- it won't be long now.
