I don't tell many people about this blog, mostly just family and friends since it's mostly private family stuff (and some bellyaching from me). But I didn't want to make it a private blog, because I thought if someone dug hard enough (like I was digging when we were waiting for Evan), they could find their way here and read our story. Maybe they might find something useful or interesting. Also, I haven't done any scrapbooking for Evan, so this sort of serves to document what we have been up to. But we don't get much traffic around here. I see tumble weeds rolling by...
We moved Evan over to another classroom that is gradually easing the kids into a partial immersion Chinese class in the fall. Poor guy has had to put up with a move, then a change of school, then a change of class. It hasn't been all smooth sailing. We've had to work on things (one of them being our patience), but he's doing pretty good in this new class (KNOCK ON WOOD!!). And he's making friends too. I'm so glad about that. Also, in the spirit of the Asian "cram school" tradition, I also just started today taking him to this "Social Skllls" class, run by his private speech therapist. Not that I'm going to be a "Tiger Mom"—waaaayyyyy too much work, but he has been having a tough time during circle time and participating in class, among other things. Basically, he can be focused when he's doing something he likes, but if he's not interested or not in the mood, forgetaboutit! The class runs twice a week for six weeks, but it's during the day. So I have to leave work to pick him up, taking him to the class, then bring him back to school, then go back to work myself. I'm gone for almost 3 hours. My boss grumpily said ok to it. Not that I'm all that crazy about having to do this, but I figure if this really helps then it's worth effort and money. Six weeks out of a lifetime is not a big deal. I just hope he learns to interact properly. It's a work in progress.
For 4th of July, we went to the same neighborhood picnic that we went to last year. Evan had lots of fun. He especially loved all the sweets!
So serious and kind of grown up looking.
Naw… still the same goofball!
Aaarrrrgghhh!!
We're at Splash! Buccaneer Bay. More Aaarrrrgghhh!!
It is a small watermark, geared more toward smaller kids, perfect for Evan. We had a good time, although we were exhausted. They had this wading pool, only a couple feet deep at the deepest, with slides and this and that to keep the kids entertained and soaked. And also this lazy river type thing that was also fun. Evan is too little for the big slides. The funnel cake was really yummy!
Knott's Berry Farm!
Oh no! We're being robbed by "bad guys" (baddai)on the train!!
Scary red-eyed, gun-toting, masked bad guy.
The first time we were robbed on the train, Evan was super worried, had to hold Baba's hand. This is the second time around... still a little worried.
But he's ready to go beat up the "bad guys." We'll hold on to Baba's hand so Baba doesn't get scared.
Are we joining the gang?
Ooh la la!
I enjoy reading your blogs Auntie! And looking at all the pictures :)
