It's Fall!

I guess we're officially into the holiday season, starting with Halloween. We picked out a Lightning McQueen costume for Evan early on, but didn't dare let him try it on for fear that he would want to keep it on for school, grocery stores, bedtime, etc. Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Robert started working on decorating their house early too, and with good reason. The house is decked out with all kinds of Halloween decorations, complete with lights, scary skeletons and witches, inflatable ghosts and goblins, as well as a spider and ghost that are activated by sound. Evan can't quite clap loud enough to activate them, but he found ways, much to our chagrin. He would slam the screen door or the container lid. Ok, couple of times is ok, but after the seventh time it gets pretty annoying. Our apologies to the neighbors.

Evan was taken to not one, not two, but THREE different pumpkin patches. Talk about being spoiled. He is now an old hand at these things. Bounce houses, pony rides, choo choo trains, no problem. For Halloween night, we went over to Grandma's house for supper and trick-or-treating. It's a rather odd concept to walk up to strangers' houses asking for candy. We went to about a dozen houses in the neighborhood. Evan was a little apprehensive at first, but after the first couple, he was saying "More!" after each house. He attempted to say "Trick or Treat" (although he didn't always wait for the door to open) and "Thank you." He was very polite and only pick out one or two pieces of candy at each house. I'm sure next year when he's an old hand at this, he wouldn't be quite so polite.

He might not look it here, but he really was excited.

If you couldn't tell, mama's dressed up as an angry Chinese waitress. ;o)

For the Fall Festival at Evan's school, parents were asked to prepare some treats or favors to share with other kids at the school. I thought I could get away with just getting some bags of apple chips or something. But my over-achieving co-worker (Thanks, Elma) showed me all the creative things she was doing for her daughter at her school. I didn't want Evan to look bad among his classmates if their parents turned out to be as over-achieving. So I rushed out to Michaels and Target and Dollar Tree, twisted Hubby's arm to help me put the treats together late that evening. It wasn't anything nearly as elaborate as what Elma had done, but good enough. I think it was a hit. I've been told that I am now in the "circuit" with these types of projects. More to look forward to. Guess I'd better get my hot glue gun out now.

One piece PJ with footsies!!

Open house at our local fire station. Evan loves mascots! Not afraid of them one bit. He chased down poor Sparky 3 separate times to give him hugs, high 5's and fist bumps.

Evan is having a lot of fun these days, at Grandma's house, at Ah-Ma's house, and at school. I get up a few times at night to make sure he's covered up. One night, he said, "More" in his sleep. I wonder what he was dreaming about, probably asking for more fun. Gee, how much fun can a little boy take? Lots and lots, I hope, because Christmas is coming and he'll be loaded with tons of fun!

P.S. Hubby just called. We just got our readoption court date. It's going to be January 18, 2012!
